Consent
Keep every donor's answer for email and postal mail, with how, when and your evidence.
Coffer keeps, for each donor and each channel (email and postal mail), every answer they gave about hearing from you: what they said, how it was captured, when, your evidence, and who recorded it. The newest answer is the one that counts. Answers are added, never edited.
Record consent for several donors
On Donors, tick the donors in the list, then fill in Record consent for selected donors:
- Channel: email or postal mail.
- Answer: agreed to appeals, or withdrew or declined.
- How it was captured: web form, paper form, verbal, email reply, event sign-up or other.
- Captured on: the date they told you.
- Evidence: what shows it, such as "ticked the newsletter box on the 2026 gala RSVP card, filed in the office".
Record consent adds the answer to each donor's history.
Record or withdraw for one donor
On the donor's page, open Record consent under Consent for appeals. A withdrawal is recorded the same way, with the answer Withdrew or declined. The chips at the top show the current answer for each channel: yes, withdrawn or not asked.
What consent changes
A donor with no answer, or whose latest answer is a withdrawal, is left out of every appeal for that channel and counted under the reason. If anyone's answer changes after an appeal's audience was prepared, Coffer refuses to approve or export it until it is prepared again. See Appeals.
